Solo Weddings - Could this happen
in the UK?
In this day and age as we all
know, you don’t need a partner to have a baby, a sperm bank will do the job
nicely. You don’t need a man in order to be independent and live happily after.
But now it seems the male species are becoming even more surplus to requirements
as you don’t even need one to have the perfect wedding, and we are not talking
same sex marriages here!
A company in Japan, Cera
Travel in Kyoto has been running a solo wedding service for some time and has
seen many brides taking this somewhat unusual route. For just £1,700 minimum you can benefit from
a wedding dress, a bouquet, hair and makeup session, the actual ceremony, photographs
and a night in a hotel.
You can even have a stand in man for the photographs, but
doesn’t this defeat the object somewhat? Nor does the stand in man accompany
you on the one night honeymoon, but maybe even that is possible at the right
price!!
So why do Japanese want to do
this? It seems there are many career women and divorcees who simply want the
wedding day, but not the marriage and all the hassle that comes with it. A day of pampering, a beautiful dress and
photographs to last a lifetime and of course no divorce. Apparently
this is not just for the single women though, as many who are actually in a relationship
are taking up the service. They are not bothered about tying the knot, but
simply want the big day anyway, and often invite their other half to spend the
night, after the photo shoot is over. It
does make you think how many mismatches there might have been in real weddings if
some women secretly just want the pomp and grandeur rather than the partner.
Men beware!
However if you do fancy giving it
a go on your own, no need to spend out £1,700, a DIY job can cost under £500 with
the same result! So how can you achieve
it?
Many makeover photo shoot companies
can provide the following:

styling (pampering!)

This package will cost you in the region of
£300, possibly cheaper if you shop around
If you really wanted a man in the photo’s
either grab one off the street or hire one for as little as £30 an hour.
Then why not treat yourself to a wedding
afternoon tea at the Courthouse Hotel in London, currently on offer at £35. Including savoury rolls and bagels,
pastries, cakes, scones with clotted cream and preserves
Wide range of teas and herbal infusions. Glass of chilled Champagne or 2 if you are not sharing!
Finally take yourself off to your heavenly honeymoon
night alone at a bargain price of £84 in a 4* Best Western London hotel (last

There you have it, your perfect wedding day at a cost of
£449 and no potential divorce costs later down the line.
Any takers?
